Do you have good days? Those days when you know that everything is working in your favour? The days when your hair does what your fingers say and your bantu knot out is on point? Or maybe for the guys your trip to the barbers is going to get comments like "man liiiiike"? The really good for your confidence days. You know, the "stare in the mirror and thank God days? Then the days where the you that you see every morning comes back. The you that not everybody has a clue actually exists. The you that picks at yourself in the mirror. That pokes at your insecurities. Your little too round face, the little too flat nose, the little....just well the little you. You wonder how could you possibly love the little (or not so little you) you?
"You need to love yourself" lol Right? You hear this all the time. It's got to the point where this statement makes you giggle to yourself or it cuts deep. Love yourself. How? How does one love themselves when the standard is so high? The standard is perfection, right? In order to love yourself you must have attributes that are worth loving right? So how do you love little old you?
Well don't look to me for answers bruh. I'm just trying to figure it out. I only hoped to give you a starting point.
I was watching 'God's Not Dead' about a week ago (don't start singing please, just don't) and in one of the scenes pastor Dave and Mina have the following interaction :
Pastor Dave : Do you believe God is possible of error, bias or bad judgement?
Mina : No.
Pastor Dave : So if He's incapable of mistakes and he made you in his likeness and image. He cares about you, correct?
Mina : Correct
Pastor Dave : To the point where God's only son was willingly crucified for you. Just you. If He loves you that much, who cares what your boyfriend thinks? To the wrong person you will never have any worth but to the right person you mean everything
You, Kumbirai, mean everything to God.
